Free Micro Course: An Exploration into Managing your Classroom Budget

It is a fact of life that when it comes to classroom materials, many teachers end up paying for their own supplies out of their own pockets.  With school budget cuts, many teachers are left with no choice but to buy their own office supplies, basic classroom materials like paper and pencils, and classroom aesthetics just to make their classroom a better place for learning and growing for their students.  With teachers trying to stretch a dollar out as long as possible, it has become necessary to find teaching resources on that educators can use on a budget – now more than ever.

When it comes to managing a classroom budget, teachers do not need to spend dollar after dollar throughout the school year.  There are many resources that can help educators set up their budget to know how much they have to spend for the year and to help prioritize their classroom needs.  When their budget is running low, educators have the option to reach out to families and the surrounding community for help.  Sometimes, teachers may not even realize that they do not have to spend their money on items such as bulletin board letters or decorations; these items can be found right inside your classroom!

In this self-paced exploration, you will build a foundation of understanding of a classroom budget. Through the inquiry model, you will create guiding questions, explore resources, document your learning, and formulate next steps. Overall, prepare to spend two to three hours completing this exploration. The printable resources are a great place to record and create a product of your learning and can also be used with your students as you lead them through inquiry projects.

Upon completion of this micro-course, you will receive a certificate from Advancement Courses notating your 3 PD hours earned.
